2015 Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner is a mid-sized pick-up truck with a spicy look. It runs on diesel and is expected to be more of a power-performer than its gasoline-based predecessor. Here is what the specifications of this new entrant are.

The model has been inspired by the Frontier Desert Runner and that is why you can see many features resembling its predecessor’s. Among the new additions, the attractive, eye-catching graphics package is the most prominent. The front and the rear wheels are painted. The red-lipped rear wheels are something to look at. Another change is in the hood that has been molded from see-through plastic. Matte-grey finish covers it partially giving anyone a clear look inside. Also, unmistakable is the huge Cummins logo.
The interior again is not very different from the one in the last Desert Runner. Changes include red carpet and red trim replacing the black one. The center console has three auxiliary gauges mounted on it that are actually transmission temperature gauge, pyrometer (exhaust gas temperature), and boost gauge. These gauges are meant to keep the driver well-aware of what is going on inside the hood.
Engine and Mileage
It uses Cummins 2.8 L I-4 turbo diesel that produces around 200 hp and a torque of above 350 lb-ft. Rear wheels are powered by a ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy of this vehicle is expected to be better. In fact, an increase of 30% miles/gallon over the earlier 4.0 L V-6 that normally graces the Frontier has been claimed by the company. The jump is due to the use of diesel this time, as the earlier one used gasoline. The towing and payload capacity will remain the same as that of the Last Frontier. The association with Cummins is going to continue to Nissan’s next-generation Titan. Mileage of the truck has been given at 19/23 mpg for city/highway.

The starting price of this mid-sized pick-up truck has been given as $17,990. It will be available in the US in the early part of 2015.
The diesel-powered pick-up is meant to understand how consumers make the shift from the gasoline one.
