The popular compact model got a facelift, three years after the launch of the current generation, here is the 2022 Ford Focus five-door hatchback.
The most important innovations on the Focus for 2022 are the refreshed design, the new multimedia system, the new assistance systems as well as the improved motorization.
Exterior Specs
When it comes to the exterior design, the height of the “nose” has been increased, while the Ford logo has been moved from the hood to the middle of the radiator grille.
The mask is slightly larger than before and differs depending on the equipment package.
New, slightly thinner, full LED headlights with integrated fog lights attract attention on all versions.
As an option, “matrix” LED headlights will be available, equipped with, among other things, the function of dynamic lighting in curves, active beam control to avoid dazzling other drivers (using the camera), or adjusting the light to the situation on the road and weather conditions.
LED stoplights have also been given a new shape and design.
2022 Ford Focus interior
The interior of the car now looks more modern. The dashboard is dominated by a huge 13.2-inch digital screen, through which the driver has access to the new Sync4 multimedia system, adapted from the electric Mustang Mach-E.
Cloud-based navigation, voice commands, and a more intuitive user environment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features are just some of its benefits.
The air conditioning and settings of most car systems are also controlled via a touch screen.
Engine
The base Focus engine for 2022 is still a three-cylinder EcoBoost 1.0 with 100 hp or 125 hp, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
It will also be offered as a “light” hybrid with an optional seven-speed automatic in 125 and 155 hp variants.
The only diesel is the 1.5 EcoBlue, available in two power variants, with 95 or 120 hp. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or, in a more powerful variant, to an optional 8-speed automatic transmission.
The latest 2022 Ford Focus ST version will have under the hood 2.3 EcoBoost of 280 hp. This model will be equipped as standard with a 6-speed manual or, for an additional fee, a 7-speed automatic with levers for manual gear changes on the steering wheel.
The restyled Focus also includes a number of driver assistance systems, which have been expanded compared to its predecessor.
Among them is Blind Spot Assist, which not only warns of other cars out of the driver’s line of sight but also, if necessary, “discourages” lane changes.
The system scans the car’s surroundings for vehicles up to 28 meters behind, 20 times per second, and operates at speeds of 65 to 200 km / h.
