Mazda is about to present the MX-5 Miata for 2022 with improved steering control and some dazzling new finishes for the award-winning design of the legendary two-seater roadster.
It is the latest effort by carmakers to perfect a package that has attracted drivers for more than three decades with its direct response, ultra-sharp gear changes, perfectly balanced front engine, rear-wheel drive layout and comfortable interior that puts the driver in one place with the car.
By the way, the legendary two-seater roadster MX-5, whether it is a convertible or a fastback version, is currently in its fourth generation, which began production in 2015. New Mazda MX-5 Miata specs
To enhance this Jinba Ittai connection, Mazda has devised Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), a new technology developed exclusively for the MX-5. The system recognizes the difference in speeds between the rear wheels during curves, lightly pressing the brakes on the inner wheel. This prevents lifting, improving the MX-5’s rear multi-link suspension characteristics and suppressing body roll-over.
In short, the KPC stabilizes the car, especially during heavy bends with large G-forces and on rough roads, making the already legendary handling of the MX-5 much better while improving comfort. The KPC, which adds no weight to the car, will be standard equipment on all MX-5s for 2022, either with a soft top or retractable fastback (RF).
In terms of design, both body versions add new finishes, namely the Platinum Quartz Metallic exterior and the Terracotta interior. The first combines an elegant silky white color with quartz-like transparency, while the rich color cabin comes with ultra-smooth Nappa leather. Together, the two design options create a ‘free-spirited’ atmosphere. Mazda has also added a dark blue soft top option, and with it a number of new color combination options.
