Following the announcement of the concept in the spring of this year, Toyota has now published on its website all the details of the production version of its first 100% electric vehicle from the “beyond Zero” line. Its name is Toyota bZ4X 2022, and as you can see, it is the most popular body shape nowadays – a compact family SUV with aggressive lines, modern design and futuristic interior.
Toyota bZ4X is full BEV
The Toyota bZ4X is the first model of this brand to be fundamentally designed to be a 100% BEV (battery electric vehicle). It is the first car that Toyota will produce on the new e-platform and e-TNGA philosophy, created by the joint efforts of Toyota and Subaru. Batteries, as with most electric vehicles today, are integrated into the floor, are part of the chassis, and as such do not reduce the useful space in the cabin and lower the center of gravity of the vehicle.
Toyota bZ4X Battery Range
In addition, the battery technology should allow after 10 years or 240,000 kilometers or 150,000 miles for battery packs of this car to retain over 90% of the original capacity. The planned range with one charge will be over 450 kilometers or 250 miles .
The bZ4X is designed to be spacious and comfortable, but also powerful. This will be achieved with a built-in all-wheel drive, so this SUV will sometimes be able to go off-road.

Externally, this model emphasizes the aggressive “face” with thin light elements, which should become a recognizable feature of all bZ models in the future. The look, as noted from Toyota, is devoid of unnecessary decorations, the side silhouette is elegant and low, and the accentuated arches of the fenders stand out. The appearance is also dominated by a large wheelbase (160 mm larger than the RAV4), but also extremely short overhangs. Such a vehicle is able to turn in a circle with a radius of 5.7 meters.

The interior is inspired by the comfort of the living room, complemented by soft materials and comfortable details. Options include a panoramic roof, a semicircular “yoke” steering wheel (as on the Tesla Model S Plaid), while the cockpit is dominated by a large touch screen. Above the steering wheel is an additional, 7-inch screen with all the information needed by the driver.
The propulsion system of the new Toyota bZ4X will have a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor at its center, which produces 265 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h will be 8.4 seconds, and top speed 160 km / h. On the all-wheel drive model, power will be increased to 217.5 hp and acceleration lowered to 7.7 seconds.
Toyota bZ4X Solar charging
Toyota announces that this model will also have the option of a solar roof, which will be able to recharge the batteries. Although the details have not yet been revealed, they have announced that it could generate enough electricity to add about 1,800 “free” kilometers of driving to the batteries each year.
2022 Toyota bZ4X Release Date
The Toyota bZ4X will have its European premiere on December 2, this SUV electric vehicle will hit U.S. dealerships in 2022.

Pricing has not been officially released yet, but the bZ4X expected cost should be from $30,000 to $40,000.
