Jackson said in an interview with Auto News that Peugeot will continue to make new models with SUS engines for certain foreign markets over the next decade. However, when it comes to Europe, all new models from 2030 will be electric.
“As we move to new platforms for small, medium and large vehicles, by 2030 in Europe all our models will be electric. But I have to ensure and keep the offer of SUS models in foreign markets for foreign buyers, “said the director of Peugeot.
Peugeot hereby joins other Stellantis brands that previously announced dates for the complete transition to electric models long before 2035, which is the deadline proposed by the European Union. Among them are the DS, Alfa Romeo and Opel, which will do so in 2026, 2027 and 2028, respectively.
The next step in Peugeot’s strategy includes the electric version of the hatchback 308, which arrives in 2023. A new generation of the 3008 crossover is also being prepared, which will also have a zero-emission version, and it will be produced in France.
This French brand currently offers the electric 208 and 2008, and the smaller model is selling slightly better due to greater autonomy.
