Tesla will not start production of the Cybertruck EV pickup this year as it focuses on increasing capacity at current plants in California and China and will begin production at new plants in Texas and Germany.
Although many are expecting the now famous Tesla Cybertruck pick-up, it seems that in 2022 we will not see it on the market. At least that’s what Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, said, ‘We won’t be introducing new vehicle models this year. It wouldn’t make sense. ‘ This was stated by Musk in the presentation of the report on the company’s profit in the fourth quarter.

According to Reuters and Automotive News Europe, Musk said the company is focused on optimizing the limited supply of chips that control basic vehicle functions such as electric seats and window switches, and that introducing new models and new complexities would actually reduce vehicle output.
Musk said the company continues to design and plan on the Cybertruck, Tesla Semi truck, Roadster and Tesla’s robot called Optimus.
Still, interesting is his post on his Twitter account, in which he says, ‘I was driving the latest Cybertruck prototype around Giga Texas. That’s great!’
Tesla will therefore not start production of the Cybertruck EV pickup this year as it focuses on increasing capacity at current plants in California and China and will begin production at new plants in Texas and Germany. But as for the production of new products, that would come only if we increased Tesla’s production, and not limit it. “It depends on when we will be able to produce more or less,” Musk said.
Tesla Model 2 is not in the plans
Musk said there were no plans for a cheaper Tesla, which some observers call the Model 2. “We are not currently working on a $ 25,000 car,” Musk said in response to a question. ‘At some point we will. But right now we have enough on the plate – honestly, too much on the plate. ‘ He also suggested that robotic taxis are a better way to reduce transportation costs than cheaper electric vehicles.
Musk also suggested that Tesla struggled to make Cybertruck affordable while enriching it with new technologies. “There are a lot of new technologies in Cybertruck that will take some time to work,” Musk said on Wednesday. ‘And there’s the question of what the average price of Cybertuck is and to what extent it’s affordable.’ He said he hoped Cybertruck’s production would reach 250,000 copies a year.
To recall, Cybertuck was scheduled to launch in late 2021 at a starting price of about $ 40,000.
Musk also said that he expects Tesla’s vehicles to achieve full self-driving ability this year. People now have to get behind the wheel to drive a car if necessary. “I would be shocked if we do not achieve complete self-driving, safer than a man, this year,” Musk said.
The number of fully self-driving beta Tesla vehicles in the United States rose to nearly 60,000 units, from several thousand at the end of September. Tesla is testing an improved version of its automated driving software on public roads, but said those features don’t make vehicles autonomous.
