Showtime has released the official trailer for the new limited series “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber” (original title) starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Uber founder Travis Kalanck.
An executive production of Billions creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the Showtime drama tells the behind-the-scenes story of the early days of Uber-sharing driving company co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick (Gordon-Levitt) constantly clashed with Texas venture capitalist Bill Gurley (Kyle Chandler) before he was overthrown in a coup.
Uma Thurman also starred in the miniseries as co-founder of “The Huffington Post” Arianna Huffington, who was one of the board members of Uber when Kalanick was ousted.
Super Pumped plot of the series
Super Pumped tv show tells the story of one of the most successful and destructive unicorns in Silicon Valley, Uber. The season revolves around Travis Kalanick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a stubborn Uber CEO who is eventually overthrown by a board coup, and his sometimes tumultuous relationship with his mentor Bill Gurley (Kyle Chandler), an outspoken, brilliant Texas venture capitalist he bets on his excellent reputation for Uber’s success – and then he has to live with the consequences. Uma Thurman plays Arianna Huffington, a smart businesswoman and co-founder of The Huffington Post, who was a member of Uber’s board. The SHOWTIME series will show the roller coaster ride of a start-up transport company, embodying the ups and downs of Silicon Valley. Even in the midst of a radical turnaround generated within the global technology capital, Uber stands out both as a miracle and as a warning, with internal and external battles inflicting unpredictable consequences.
