The new 2022 ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO debuts on 15 February. This is the third model in the current offer of sports variants of the Czech car manufacturer with the MONTE CARLO label.
Like the SCALA and KAMIQ models, the new FABIA in this equipment variant is once again focusing on a dynamic look with the signature with which ŠKODA AUTO marks its numerous successes in motorsport at the Monte Carlo Rally. The new vehicle is the third MONTE CARLO variant in the history of the basic ŠKODA model.

Monte Carlo – the name pays tribute to the many successes of the ŠKODA brand in car racing at the legendary rally in the Principality of Monaco. Recently, the FABIA Rally2 achieved its fourth victory for the ŠKODA brand in the last six years in the WRC2 category, and the 15th victory in its class. Since 2011, ŠKODA has been celebrating these successes with sporty versions of various series of compact models – a tradition now continued by the new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO.
Sporty ŠKODA models have been bearing the MONTE CARLO label since 2011.
Their black body elements, sporty interior design and extended standard equipment are reminiscent of the successes achieved by the ŠKODA brand at the legendary Monte Carlo Rally. ŠKODA introduced this equipment variant eleven years ago for the second generation of the FABIA model. Later, a version of MONTE CARLO will be produced for its successor, as well as for CITIGO, YETI and RAPID SPACEBACK. ŠKODA currently offers the SCALA MONTE CARLO and KAMIQ MONTE CARLO models, and will soon expand its offer to the new fourth generation FABIA model.
Release date
Debuting on February 15, the new FABIA premium model will join the Active, Ambition and Style trim levels.
ŠKODA AUTO has published official photos of the design, offering a first look at the new FABIA MONTE CARLO. The sports variant debuted eleven years ago in the second generation of the FABIA model. Black MONTE CARLO signature elements show much more emotional lines and dynamic proportions of the fourth generation FABIA model. Carbon-style elements and red decorative ribbons give a sporty stamp to the interior.

2022 Škoda Fabia Monte Carlo specs
Exterior images of the new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO show how the distinctive details of this version of the model enhance the emotional design and dynamic appearance. The frame of the ŠKODA grille has the same black finish as the spoiler on the exclusive front bumper, which features a large air intake pipe. The diffuser in the sports rear bumper and the inscriptions on the tailgate are also in black, as are the exterior mirror housings, window frames, side sills and rear spoiler; on the wings are the markings of MONTE CARLO.

The car comes with exclusive 16-inch Proxma alloy wheels or optional 17-inch Procyn alloy wheels with aerodynamic inserts in black and 18-inch Libra wheels.

The interior is mostly black. Height-adjustable sports seats have integrated headrests, while the three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel is marked MONTE CARLO. The steering wheel rim, handbrake and gear lever are upholstered in leather and have black seams. Elegant red accents appear on the seat upholstery and horizontal dashboard trim, on the center console and on the door handles. Carbon-style elements emphasize the front door armrests and the lower part of the instrument panel.

Convenient and practical features of the car may include a heated windshield, heated steering wheel and infotainment with a screen size ranging from 6.5 to 9.2 inches.
Four engines
The new powertrains also contribute to reduced fuel consumption, and the range available is essentially the same as the standard model. The basic version is a three-cylinder atmospheric 1.0 MPI EVO that delivers 59 kW of power and 93 Nm of torque and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. A five-speed manual transmission is also available on cars equipped with a 1.0 TSI EVO engine, which generates 70 kW and 175 Nm of torque. The more powerful version of the three-cylinder TSI EVO (81 kW, 200 Nm) offers a choice of gearboxes: six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG with double clutch.
The four-cylinder 1.5 TSI EVO, with 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque, is available as standard with a seven-speed DSG transmission. In this version, the FABIA MONTE CARLO reaches a top speed of 225 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 8 seconds.
ŠKODA MONTE CARLO DNA
Born on a racetrack, built for travel – that’s in the DNA of the ŠKODA MONTE CARLO: sports versions of various series of ŠKODA compact models share this label, which was introduced by the Czech carmaker 86 years ago. To celebrate ŠKODA POPULAR’s second place in the 1,500 cm class at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1936, the factory released a limited series of 70 ŠKODA POPULAR MONTE CARLO vehicles at the time. The first double victory at the Monte Carlo Rally came in 1977 with the legendary ŠKODA 130 RS in the 1300 cm class. In the 1990s, FAVORIT and FELICIA also achieved double victories before the extraordinary rally career of the ŠKODA FABIA began. This was followed by a victory in the ŠKODA FABIA SUPER 2000 class at the Monte Carlo Rally 2013. His successor, the FABIA R5 (Rally2), won the WRC2 category in Monte Carlo in 2017 and 2018. The upgraded ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 here repeated this double success in 2021 and 2022.
The new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO is the third serial version of this model series to bear the sporty name. In 2011, ŠKODA introduced this variant for the second generation FABIA models, before the third generation FABIA model followed the example of 2014. The fourth generation ŠKODA FABIA is the third model to join the portfolio of the Czech sports car manufacturer MONTE CARLO, alongside ŠKODA SCALA and ŠKODA KAMIQ.
