BMW has no problem talking about a future portfolio. The German car company has already announced certain performance models such as the M3 CS and M4 CSL, as well as a new hybrid and pure battery model, which will join the iX crossover.
However, in the last interview, the former head of the BMW M division, Marcus Flash, revealed that the company is working hard on the future M flagship, write Hot Tires.
Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, Flash said the new, high-performance, separate M model, in the spirit of the M1 icon, will join the production line in the near future. “Well, we will definitely have an independent M model again,” Flash said. However, whether it will really be a racial sports car like the M1 or something completely different remains to be seen.
“At the core of our brand are still racing and high performance on the road,” he added. “However, we also want to keep customers who like expressive luxury. With the M8 and its derivatives, we have already succeeded in some cases, but there is a segment in which a lot is happening and in which we have no representatives. I can’t say more about that. “
2023 BMW XM Luxury Plug-in Hybrid SUV release date
Spy photos and leaked details reveal that BMW is working hard on the hybrid M SUV, which will debut on November 29th. Some reports say that this SUV will be a “M feather” with over 700 hp, with its production starting in Spartanburg, South Carolina, next year. Opposing news says that this new SUV will carry an X8 badge and not an “XM” as initially suggested. Since production will take place in Spartanburg, home of the BMW X7, it is unlikely that this SUV will be the “separate” M model that Flash is talking about.
Of course, we all hope that BMW will finally launch a racial supersport car, but for now there is no information on what it could be when it comes to the new M model.
