General Motors will install 40,000 EV chargers across Canada and the United States

The company “General Motors” (GM) intends to start the realization of the program “Ultium Charge 360” in 2022, within which it will invest 750 million dollars in the installation of public chargers throughout Canada and the USA.

The American car manufacturer intends to donate 40,000 chargers which, with the help of dealers and franchises, will be installed in workplaces, residential buildings, universities, colleges, sports facilities, but also in rural areas and less busy places.

The goal is to develop the charging infrastructure for electric cars to such an extent that drivers no longer have to worry about the range of the vehicle. This is just one of the strategies by which GM intends to contribute to the popularization of electric vehicles which, they hope, will soon become available to everyone.

The company has launched another brand, “Ultium”, under which it produces batteries and other parts for electric cars, and now the production of Ultium chargers for EV has been announced.

The first chargers are expected to be delivered in 2022, and the company announced that each will be equipped with internet and bluetooth, have dynamic load balancing and can be upgraded over time via wireless automatic updates, while the two premium models will also have a customizable touch screen and a built-in camera.

These chargers will be available to all vehicles, not just the electric models produced by General Motors.

“We want to provide customers with the right equipment and access to charging where and when they need it, as we work with our dealer network to accelerate the spread of affordable charging across the US and Canada, including underserved, rural and urban areas,” said GM President. and Mark Reuss.
