I noticed this new movie “Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania” released on Prime Video a few days ago. It’s the 4th part of the Hotel Transylvania movies, and since I liked the previous movies, I was curious to watch it. It was also quite convenient because the film was easily accessible. OK, then we’ll get to that.
As is well known, pand…. ko…. led to a number of films originally intended for cinemas eventually ending up on streaming services. One studio that has been particularly affected is Sony Pictures Animation, whose logo was last seen on the big screen in 2019. The first was The Mitchells Against the Machines, which was released on Netflix in the spring. Also, The Wishing Dragon and Vivo – Full of Life were sold to the leader in entertainment video on demand. Still, it was a bit of a surprise when it was announced that Hotel Transylvania 4 – The Metamorphosis of Monsters would also be refused to go to the cinema. Not only this time, a competitor of Amazon Prime Video shot. The series is also one of Sony’s big money earners. Hotel Transylvania 3 – A Monster Holiday has earned more than $ 500 million.
Some suspect that the sale was not solely related to pand…., But the poor quality of the film also influenced the decision. At least it is evident that there have been some changes in the team. For the first time, Genndy Tartakovski, who directed the first three films, was not a director. Instead, the duo of Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon can try out their first feature film. And there were changes in the lineup, at least in English. It was a big blow that Adam Sandler, who voiced Dracula in the original, is no longer on board. Especially since Hotel Transylvania 4 – A Monster Metamorphosis should be the last part of the series. Not taking this with you anymore, as a kind of farewell gift, does not bode well.
While celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Hotel Transylvania, Drac (Brian Hull), his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez – Just Murders in a TV Series Building, Another Cinderella Story, etc.), her husband Johnny, Andy Samberg – I Love You Man, Brooklyn Nine Nine TV series etc.) and the rest of the gang enjoyed the time of their lives.
Until somehow Johnny turned into a monster until Drac became a man. Together they both did everything they could to transform themselves into their original form before it became permanent.
So what would happen to them? You can find out in this computer animated comedy.
Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania movie review
Now that was fun. My girlfriend and I had a good time watching this movie because we couldn’t stop laughing from start to finish because of the various hilarious scenes involving almost all the characters. The comedy stems not only from a situation in which the good-natured Johnny became a monster who still had the same personality, but also from Durres who had to adapt as a man. So many times we would laugh out loud at them.
And to make things even funnier, we had to see other characters show their madness. In addition to Draco’s old gang like the werewolf Wayne (Steve Buscemi – Reservoir Dogs, etc.) and his wife Wanda (Molly Shannon – Night at Roxbury, etc.), Murray the Mummy (Keegan-Michael Key – Playing with Fire, etc.), Griffin’s Invisible Man ( David Spade – The Wrong Missy, etc. (Frankenstein (Brad Abrell) and his wife Eunice (Fran Drescher – The Nanny TV series, etc.), Eric (Kathryn Hahn – Bad Moms, etc.) and Van Helsing (Jim) also appeared. Gaffigan – Luca, etc.) repeats his roles from the 3rd film Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.
All the interactions of the characters also provided funny moments most of the time. My favorite scene would be one that involves a change of look, especially Frankenstein, Griffin and Blobby. Btw, Adam Sandler no longer gave a voice to Draco in this fourth film, but I think Brian Hull managed to do it nicely too. The story here was very simple and just focused on the experience Drac and Johnny had as they traveled the world to find a way to transform them again. There was also the famous “fight” between Draco and Mavis in which Johnny participated. Oh, there were no scenes in the middle or after the end of the credit, but there were a few funny animations during the final credits.
As I said in my post from the previous film, the original Hotel Transylvania still has the best story, while the sequels mostly focused on the comic side. As in previous films, there were a few beautiful songs in the background and a truly colorful animation of funny monsters that kids should love. The short duration of only 87 minutes was perfect. I think you would enjoy watching this movie because it didn’t require a lot of thinking and we could just have a silly fun. It’s definitely a stress relief movie. So, if you are looking for such entertainment, then this one would provide you with just that. IMDB Movie Rating: 6.1 / 10.
