Netflix has released the first official teaser for “Inventing Anna,” which comes from producer Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Bridgerton).
The streaming series, starring Julia Garner, Anna Chlumsky, Katie Lowes, Alexis Floyd and Laverne Cox, is inspired by a New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler.
Emmy-winning Ozark star Julia Garner plays Anna Delvey, a cheater who led people to believe she was a wealthy German heiress while secretly cheating on banks and hotels in New York City.
Created by Rhimes, the original Netflix series is also executive productions by Rhimes and Betsy Beers. While Emmy-winning coxswain David Frankel (Entourage, Sex and the City) directed the first episode.
Inventing Anna Season 1 plot
Inventing Anna, a journalist who has a lot to prove, investigates the case of Anne Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of the New York social scene – and stole their money. But is Anna the biggest cheater in New York or is she simply a new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter create a dark, funny connection between love and hate while Anna awaits trial, and our reporter tries to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by an article from New York Magazine “How Anna Delvey Cheated New York Parties” by Jessica Pressler.
