The popular SUV in the version for Europe is shorter than the model that will be sold in other world markets.
At the beginning of July, Korean car manufacturer Kia presented the global version of the 2022 Kia Sportage SUV model, and two months later, the Sportage model that will be found in European showrooms was shown.
The two models do not differ much in style – both have a completely new, more aggressive design of the front with the characteristic LED daytime running lights in the shape of a boomerang and a new emblem.
2022 Kia Sportage GT Specs
The Kia Sportage GT 2022 front is dominated by a mask that Kia used to call “Tiger Nose”, and now their marketing has invented a new name – “Digital Tiger Face”.
Kia has chosen to present an attractive GT Line version in the promotional photos, with accentuated sporty details on the body, which also has a slightly different bumper compared to the standard Sportage.
The most important data regarding the European version is its shorter length and wheelbase.
Customers on the Old Continent are offered a vehicle with a total length of 4,515 mm, which is 145 mm less compared to the model for the global market.
The distance between the axles is also smaller and amounts to 2,680 mm, which is 75 mm shorter than the version that will be sold worldwide.
Still, the Sportage offers ample comfort in the passenger compartment, both in the front and rear seats, while there are 591 liters of usable space in the boot.
The boot can be extended by folding down the seatback to a maximum of 1,780 liters.
Kia states that customers will be able to choose between wheels with a diameter of 17, 18, or 19 inches.

2022 Kia Sportage Interior
The 2022 Kia Sportage GT SUV interior is practically the same as in the larger version, and the cockpit is dominated by a large digital panel consisting of two connected 12.3-inch screens.
The one in front of the driver has the role of an instrument panel, while the right one is in charge of multimedia content and various settings.
The “climate” controls are separated into a thin cluster on the center console, which is commendable at a time when there is a trend to switch to touch screens as well.
Kia will offer customers in Europe a wide range of engines, including all three variants of the hybrid drive – “light”, standard, and “plug-in” (PHEV), and diesel fans are not forgotten either.
2022 Kia Sportage Engine
The PHEV version consists of a 1.6-liter T-GDI turbo-petrol, a 66.9 kW electric motor, and a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total combined power of this configuration is 265 hp (195 kW)
The “ordinary” hybrid uses the same T-GDI unit, while the electric motor has a power of 44.2 kW, and the battery is 1.49 kWh. A total of 230 “horses” (169 kW) are available to the driver
As for the “light” hybrids, they also use a 4-cylinder 1.6 T-GDI and are available in options with 150 hp (110 kW) and 180 hp (132 kW).
Both diesel versions have a 1.6-liter four-cylinder under the hood – the weaker one has 115 hp (84 kW), and the stronger one has 136 hp (100 kW).
The gearboxes are 6-speed manual and 7-speed automated with a double-clutch.
The official premiere of the European version of the 2022 Kia Sportage GT SUV will take place next week, at the upcoming Munich Motor Show.

The Kia Sportage GT 2022 will arrive in showrooms at the end of this and on the market at the beginning of 2022.

Kia Sportage 2022 prices range from $30,490 for the basic trim level SUV Sportage S (fwd) to $49,990 for the SUV Sportage GT-Line (AWD).
