KIA has released the specifications of the second generation Niro model, which will arrive on the market later this year. The new Niro has grown in all dimensions – it is 4420mm long, 1825mm wide and 1545mm high, and the wheelbase has been extended by 20mm. The new KIA Niro will be offered to customers in a hybrid (HEV), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and an all-electric variant (EV).
The aerodynamic coefficient remains 0.29, as with the previous model, and the cabin is more spacious and practical. The luggage space has increased by 15 liters and is now 451 liters. There is now more space behind the rear seats as the 12V battery is now located below them, with a higher voltage battery.
The new Niro has 140 hp from a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and one electric generator. The gearbox is a six-speed automatic with two clutches that is “carefully designed and optimized” for better efficiency and less weight.
The car has been given Green Zone Drive mode in which the SUS engine automatically turns on when satellite navigation detects a green zone. The driver can define the green zones in which the crossover will consume only electricity. The brake energy recovery system recharges the battery while driving.
The second-generation Niro has a completely new suspension and handling, which has improved comfort. More noise-insulating material has also been installed in its interior. With a 10.25-inch multimedia screen, the driver was given a 10-inch digital instrument panel.
