The German car manufacturer will revive the Manta name for the new electric car that arrives in 2025. This model should significantly accelerate Opel’s transition to a fully electric brand.
However, while the original Manta from the 1970s was a coupe with rear-wheel drive, the new Manta will be an electric coupe-crossover. As Ford has done with the Mustang Mach-E, Opel also believes that using the well-known name will give the new Manta a sporty pedigree.

Opel Manta EV
Manta’s return was confirmed in July, when Opel announced that it would produce exclusively electric cars from 2027. The Opel Manta 2025 should be above the Opel Astra in the German company’s range, and the technical details as well as the design ideas have not been announced yet. However, that did not stop Autocar from publishing the first photo of the potential look of the new Manta, but also the electric model Lancia Delta, which is expected to bring a revival to the Italian company, which is also a member of the Stellantis Group.

It is clear that this model will use one of the four new platforms of the Stellantis Group for electric vehicles, and it will most likely be the STLA Medium platform for C and D segment vehicles. It can hold a battery with a capacity of up to 104 kWh, which can provide a range of about 700 kilometers. Power between 170 and 245 hp is expected, while the Manta with two electric motors could develop more than 400 hp.
