Norton Motorcycles is working on a new generation of its 961 model.
After India’s TVS Motor Company bought the British brand in April 2020, Norton is working to regain the trust of its customers.
TVS has invested millions in opening a new company headquarters in Solihull to ensure the brand remains in the UK. In addition, he hired new, experienced managers with one goal – to restore the old glory of the renowned manufacturer.
Norton has recently started production of a new V4SV superbike, but it has opted to meet the deposits made for the Commando 961 during the previous owner’s time.
Customers who have already ordered the new motorcycle will receive their machines first, after which the model will be offered to the public.
Although Commando 961 is associated by many with the previous administration, led by former chief executive, Stuart Garner, the current man in that position, John Russell, believes the name should continue to exist.
“I can’t imagine Norton not having the Commando in its line. The question now is what the new Comando should feature and when it will hit the market.”
The announcement was accompanied by teaser photos of the new Commando 961 motorcycle, confirming that the iconic two-wheeler will retain its classic cafe-racer design.
We expect more information in the coming period.
