Porsche had a record year with over 300,000 cars shipped, and the Taycan became more popular with customers than the 911. In Norway, this sporty electric model sold better in January than all petrol-powered models combined.
According to the Norwegian Transport Federation, a total of 7,957 vehicles were sold in the country in January. Among them, there were only 387 cars with gasoline or diesel engines without hybrid assistance, and only 175 of them had purely gas propulsion. Porsche Taycan was selected by 181 customers.
Norway is a country with only 5.4 million inhabitants and the absolute numbers are small, but the trend is certainly interesting. Among the 20 best-selling models in this country in January, only the Toyota RAV4 is not electrified.
At the very top are the Audi Q4 E-Tron, Hyundai Ioniq, BMW iX and Škoda Enyaq. Interestingly, Enyak’s sister model Volkswagen iD.4 was sold in identical 389 copies.
Last month, fully electric models had a market share of 83.7% and plug-in hybrids 6.8%. Conventional hybrids accounted for 4.7% of sales, diesels for 2.7%, and gas for 2.2%. A hydrogen-powered car, the Toyota Mirai, was sold in Norway in January.
