Square Enix is not happy with Marvel’s GOTG sales results

One of the candidates for Game of the Year will obviously not get his sequel. Judging by the impression Square Enix left with his statement that he is not happy with the sales results for the Guardians of the Galaxy game we got towards the end of last year. The game itself, brilliantly received by players and critics, obviously received all the damage and bad publicity created by the Avengers from the same record label.

What is not surprising is the fact that Square always issues such reports that remain completely vague. It is further frustrating that GOTG had virtually no advertising campaign to distance itself from the fiasco created by the Avengers and thus cause damage to their own title before it was released. I mean, realistically, Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t even have some goddamn campaign to attract audiences outside of Marvel fans and Square games as such.

We would certainly like to see official sales results, not just a statement that he “failed” or did not “satisfy” with sales results. What will happen in the end and whether this means the end for the adventures of Starlord and the team, no one knows. But it doesn’t stink for the best.
