The third season of the “Squid game” series is also planned for the near future.
The creator of the “Squid game” series Hwang Dong-hyuk has revealed that negotiations are underway with Netflix for the third season of this worldwide popular tv show.
Recently, it was confirmed that the South Korean hit will get a Squid Game Season 2, and the director of the series has now revealed on the Korean television KBS that the third chapter of this part is planned, reports hollywoodreporter.
“I’m talking to Netflix about the second and third seasons,” he said, adding that a decision would be reached soon.
“We are aware that everyone is waiting for the next season to come out, so we are all trying to think positively about creating another potential new sequel Season 3.”
The director also spoke about the plot that will be relevant in the second season.
“The focus will be on the story of the protagonist Lee Jung-jae as he tries to unravel everything.”
(Updated January 23rd) Ted Sarandos, one of the executive directors of Netflix, confirmed in a conference call on Thursday that “Squid Game” will continue, the media that follow the US entertainment industry announced.
“The ‘Squid Game’ universe has just begun,” Sarandos was quoted as saying by Variety, suggesting the series could resume after the second season.
As a reminder, the first season of “Squid game” was released on Netflix in September 2021 and became the most-watched series on this streaming service with 142 million viewers and counting, surpassing other Netflix hits such as the series “Bridgerton” and “Stranger Things“. (Updated January 23rd)
