Tesla will recall 356,309 Model 3 vehicles produced between 2017 and 2020 due to rear camera problems, and 119,009 Model S vehicles due to hood problems.
The Tesla Model 3 has been found to be able to damage the rearview camera cable when opening and closing the boot, which can block the road view and lead to a collision, said the US road safety regulator.

The Model S has problems attaching the hood, which could lead to its opening and blockage of the windshield and also include the risk of a collision, adds NHTSA.
Tesla said that they did not know that these problems had already caused a collision, injuries or death, according to the regulator.
The total number of vehicles that the company will recall is almost equal to the number of cars delivered last year. Tesla’s recall information was not available for comment.
The regulator recently announced the investigation of 580,000 Tesla vehicles due to the company’s decision to enable the showing of video games while the vehicle is in motion. Tesla subsequently agreed to block that option, the regulator added.
In August, NHTSA launched an official investigation into the safety of Tesla’s Autopilot driving support system after a series of collisions.
In February, the company agreed to recall 135,000 vehicles with touch-screen-based screens that also included the risk of a collision, Reuters recalls.
