WhatsApp beta update brings a new visibility option that allows you to hide your data

WhatsApp has been testing a new visibility option for some time now that allows you to hide your data from certain contacts. The function was first noticed in September. At the time, we learned that this would allow you to hide your last view, profile picture, and information information from contacts of your choice. This feature has now finally started to be implemented with the latest WhatsApp beta update and you can try it out if you are part of the WhatsApp beta program.

According to VABetaInfo, WhatsApp beta v2.21.23.14 for Android introduces a new visibility option for several users. To use this feature, you will first need to download the latest release from the Play Store. Then go into the privacy settings and select the new option “My contacts except…” to add the contacts you want to block. The visibility option is available for your WhatsApp status, Last seen and About information.

Once enabled, the selected contacts will not be able to see your WhatsApp status, last view and information information. However, if you disable Last Seen for a contact, you will not be able to see it on its profile either. This restriction does not apply to WhatsApp status information.

VABetaInfo notes that this feature is currently available for a limited number of beta testers, so you may not see the new visibility option even with the latest beta update. But since it has already started to be applied to some testers, it shouldn’t be long before WhatsApp introduces it to a larger number of users.

WhatsApp has recently tested several new features in an attempt to retain users. Messenger is currently testing a new community feature, a new integration for payments, a new user interface for contact information, and more.
