After months of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi series 12 is now official with two devices – Xiaomi 12 i Xiaomi 12 Pro. The base model has a more compact approach with its 6.28-inch screen, while still packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The 12 Pro increases in size to 6.73 inches and also has the same SoC, but also adds an LTPO AMOLED screen, a larger battery, faster charging and more capable camera hardware.
Xiaomi 12 specs
The Xiaomi 12 comes with the smallest screen on Xiaomi flagship models since the time of the Xiaomi Mi 8, which is a welcome move for fans of compact flagships. The 6.28-inch AMOLED panel made by Samsung supports FHD + resolution and refreshes up to 120 Hz. There’s a fingerprint scanner under the screen, while Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus is there to protect it from scratches.
Xiaomi 12 brings the famous Sony IMX 766 50 MP sensor found in several flagship Android phones for 2021. The size is 1 / 1.56 inches with 2.0mm pixels and OIS. Two auxiliary sensors are a 13 MP ultra-wide camera and a 5 mm 50-mm tele-macro camera.
Xiaomi engineers were able to assemble the vanilla 12 motherboard while still installing the appropriate size cooling pad and all other key components. The smaller Xiaomi 12 gets a 4,500 mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The Xiaomi 12 series phones will ship with MIUI 12.5 out of the box, while the all-new MIUI 13 announced before these devices will arrive as an update in January.

Xiaomi 12 series comes in black, blue and pink variants. There is a special green vegan leather version for both phones. The initial Xiaomi 12 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs 3,699 CNY (580 USD), then the middle model of 8/256 GB at a price of 3,999 CNY (628 USD), while the best equipped with 12/256 GB 4,399 CNY (690 USD). The first sale is scheduled for January.
Xiaomi 12 Pro specs
The 6.73-inch Pro model panel comes with a resolution of 1440p and uses an LTPO 2.0 motherboard that allows variable refresh rates of 1-120Hz depending on the task. The Xiaomi 12 Pro also comes with an on-screen fingerprint scanner and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Both Xiaomi 12 phones deliver 12-bit colors and can produce up to 1,500 nits of brightness.
Xiaomi 12 Pro brings three 50 MP cameras with Sony IMX707 main camera sensor. It is 1 / 1.28 inches in size and supports merging pixels with one large 2.44 µm pixel and OIS. The second 50MP sensor is a portrait lens, while the third brings an ultra-wide module.
CyberFocus is a self-developed Xiaomi fast autofocus technology that manages to lock subjects’ faces and other background elements. Xiaomi also boasts a new night mode algorithm that should capture more light in dimly lit areas while keeping noise levels under control.
There is a 4,600 mAh battery divided into two cells that are charged at 120W via cable and up to 50W wirelessly. Xiaomi has also added its own Surge P1 charging chip to help manage power.
